Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Organising Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the first edition of SURGICON, our international congress which will be held in Bucharest every year, starting this October!

The Romanian Student Society of Surgery (RSSS) is a non-governmental organisation of medical students who volunteer to increase their colleagues' access to hands-on medical activities and surgical education. Our story begins in 2004, when no more than a handful of students realized that they want to leave behind some more than what they had been offered, promoting the importance of hands-on activities accompanying the theoretical aspects.

15 years later, there are 11 active RSSS branches in Romania, of which the one in Bucharest has now over 600 members and trainers.

This year is also of the utmost importance for us as it is the first year in which we are organising SURGICON - the first 100% surgically oriented students' congress in Romania and an international opportunity to learn from the best in the field and to experience more of what the scientific community has to offer!

With a number of workshops which exceeds 40, covering all the surgical specialties, and a Scientific Programme focused on self-development and innovation, we plan to host a memorable medical event and to place Romania/Bucharest on the surgery map of Europe or, why not, of the world!
