Romanian Student Society of Surgery
The Romanian Student Society of Surgery is a non-governmental organisation of medical students who volunteer to give greater access to surgical education.
It was founded in 2004 by a group of students who believed that it is as important to learn by hands-on activities as it is to comprehend the theoretical information.
As a part of our evolution, we are thriving towards perfection. We are driven by professionalism, by the need for a high level of education and by that of sharing the knowledge in order to innovate and improve the quality of medical services.
In order to ensure the sustainable development of the field, every aspiring surgeon should become the best version of himself or herself. We do encourage this and it is why we support early hands-on learning, evidence-based teaching and indisputable work ethic.
We have been organising a great amount of workshops and scientific events for a while now, events which are incredibly successful among medical students. Through hard work, professionalism and on top of all, passion, our potential became visible and our workforce so reliable that in 2017, the RSSS had the privilege to organise and host the annual IASSS (International Association of Student Surgical Societies) Symposium.
SURGICON in an international congress organised by The Romanian Student Society of Surgery. The first edition will take place between the 24th and 27th of October 2019, in Bucharest, Romania. In order to bring the surgical field closer to medical students, we take responsibility in creating a great learning environment for our participants!
We intend to bring together our already traditional workshops, to come up with ideas of alternative ways of learning the practical part of medicine and to introduce students to the newest facets of surgery.
In our continuous path towards becoming the best, we want to break boundaries and to write history in the medical student community: we want to put Romania on the surgical map of the world!
